This is a fantastic place, epitome of the scenic emotion of Monferrato. It sits on the top of a hill that takes from San Salvatore to Lu Monferrato, in an area that was once home to vineyards and is now slowly rediscovering the hazelnut (here it is the famous Three-lobed Tonda Gentile variety). La Commedia della Polenta is a delightful original restaurant, to enjoy in its beautiful stone dining rooms, furnished in a sober and elegant manner (the water glasses for example are all different, as are the chairs, in a cheerful ambiance). The dining room and kitchen are the world of Wilma Garlando and her sons Stefano and Mauro, passionate not only about food, but also about everything the area has to offer (at Golosaria, they organize a cooking event on stoves). The goal is always to present the best of local produce, from cheeses to flours, all high quality and all from Monferrato. The food, which is inspired by the territory, knows how to escape from the rigid canons of tradition, with a healthy dose of creativity in the preparation and outstanding attention to the presentation.
