This ideal restaurant was a discovery, though Osteria 46 has actually been there since 2007, in an area just outside Acqui Terme, practically a park, with this large structure inside (once it was a small chapel). It is a restful place. The young Daniele Sbaraini, chef and factotum of this osteria manages a la carte dinners, but also birthday parties and open-air meals in the space available to him, with originality and passion. It was a surprise to get to know him, under so many points of view, as this young man is appreciated even beyond regional borders. He has an excellent selection of wines, as a true host, and a menu that gives an idea: set menu, but also a variable dish (of the day) which makes the most of the daily shopping. The atmosphere in this osteria is cosy, with lighting that puts both couples and groups of friends in a good mood.
You start with the mixed starters (the veal in tuna sauce is good and filling), or, immediately with the Robiola of Roccaverano next to the mostarda (pickled fruit). The homemade gnocchi with Roccaverano cream and pine kernels are full of flavour, soft and well made, but the fusilli with gorgonzola and radicchio or the must-eat traditional ravioli are equally good. You won’t go wrong with the second course, there is meat, which is grilled, or served with green pepper, if it is striploin. The Acqui-style stockfish is so good and there are also meat strips sautéed with radicchio. The desserts are homemade: tarte tatin, semifreddo with toasted almonds and hazelnut cake. The price is reasonable, satisfaction all round. Well worth a visit.
