The same family has managed the Cascina Ospedale / EDUCATIONAL FARM “Cascina della nonna” with great passion and many good intentions for generations. It is thought that the farmhouse was once a point of hospitality on the old Salt Road and we like to keep up the tradition...welcoming school groups to bring young people closer to nature, with its charm and its times, to appreciate and respect.
The farm extends for about 40 hectares to just outside Alessandria, 4 km from the town centre, along the right bank of the River Tanaro (you can also reach the town by bike). It is crossed by a riverbank, ideal for long pleasant walks.
The activities of the educational farm, workshops and packed lunches, will be held under the large portico of the age-old stable-barn, no longer in use, or, weather permitting, on the front lawn, ideal for young people/kids.
Cereals, medicinal plants, legumes, fodder and to a small extent horticultural products (potatoes) are cultivated using organic methods, in which we strongly believe.
With our crops, we produce stoneground flours with a rustic and traditional taste and the delightful essential oil of lavender officinalis with extraordinary relaxing properties.
The store is open from Monday to Friday, in the mornings, except on Tuesdays.
