The restaurant has become a safe haven for gourmets from Alessandria and other areas. Here, the cuisine is based on two pillars: quality of the raw materials and substance. We are about 200 metres from the pedestrian area of the lovely spa town, a short distance from the square of the Bollente fountain considered to be the “most fashionable meeting point” of the town. The informal ambience of the two small gracefully furnished dining rooms are ideal for an intimate dinner and a family lunch.
The wine list is interesting, with the right choice of presenting the wines divided by grape variety, while the food menu offers a vast choice between land and sea dishes.
The land dishes offer a selection of local classics: the starters (€11) include veal in tuna sauce caramelised with Cortemilia hazelnuts, asparagus and brie tart on basil and saffron sauce. The first courses (€9) include raviolini del plin, risotto with Barbera, or cannelloni of seirass and walnuts with courgettes. The second courses (€14): tagliata of Fassone in hazelnut crust and carpaccio of formaggetta, grilled lamb chops with small parmigiana. The fish dishes are just as interesting with baked scallops au gratin with grissini and limoncello scent, cuttlefish salad with broad beans and pecorino di fossa cheese, orecchiette pasta with king prawns, cured ham and seafood, maltagliati pasta with baby squid and courgettes of the riviera, tagliolini pasta with tuna roe and basil julienne, paper cone of fried baby squid, shrimps, anchovies and courgettes, to finish with bacon tuna steak with thinly sliced potatoes or, from other visits, steamed cod, Taggiasche olive pureè and oil must. Desserts (€8): hazelnut tiramisù, semifreddo of Alba nougat with warm chocolate, and mousse with gianduja perfumed with lavender ice cream.
