Land, countryside and man In our countryside the seasons allow visitors to enjoy sights and colours that are never the same; from the banks of a stream, the verges of a cultivated field right up to the edge of an ancient chestnut and beech wood, even before you see it you may well smell the aroma of a mushroom, the pungent traces of a passing deer or wild boar, or see the flowering of white daffodils on the crest of a hill as if it had snowed in March. Of special interest are the local flora and fauna, with a host of protected reserves that have special observation points and hides. Green cyclists and bird watchers are spoilt for choice when it comes to these nature reserves in the Alessandria and Monferrato area, that open up a whole world of authentic natural heritage.
