The site protects approximately 12 km of the course of the River Orba, inserted in a largely agricultural area, so much that arable land and poplar trees reach the shores of the Orba, where natural environments alternate with agricultural environments. The area features beautiful flora and fauna. In the municipality of Predosa and Casalcermelli there are two recreation areas. At the Mill, seat of the Nature Reserve, several rooms used as an educational laboratory and small nature museum are undergoing refurbishment. There are also plans to create a ring-shaped cycling and equestrian route equipped with rest areas for the observation of natural peculiarities and an additional pedestrian path to connect the Mill, the Bosco Marengo heronry and the River Orba.
