The site is located in the middle Borbera Valley, one of the two main valleys of the Piedmont Apennine sector and occupies the stretch of the River Borbera situated between Borghetto Borbera and Cantalupo Ligure, where the waters have carved deep gorges (straits) in the conglomerate rocks, giving way to wide and steep walls. It has beautiful flora and fauna specimens. The Borbera Straits are crossed by paved roads that climb up Val Borbera, along which there are several scenic points. There are also two paths that offer a good view of the landscape, starting from the Borbera Straits, climbing along the ridgelines that stretch northwards to Mount Gavasa (911m) and southwards to Mount Gravasana (870m).
