The building, which faces southwards, is just outside the small hamlet of Dova Superiore,
The church of Dova was already mentioned in 1523, but a landslide destroyed it in 1872.
A marble plaque recalls that the church was built according to the design and under the direction of the parish priest Don Guidobono.
