The first mention of a church in Arquata dates to 1231. This building, in Romanesque style, was probably built in the twelfth century. The current parish church was built in the early sixteenth century and consecrated on 31 March 1546. In the first half of the nineteenth century it was enlarged with the construction of several side chapels.
