The River Orba Nature Reserve extends into the province of Alessandria and involves the territories of the Municipalities of Bosco Marengo, Capriata d'Orba, Casal Cermelli, Predosa.
The Reserve is inserted into a lowland area with a predominantly agricultural vocation, such that arable land and poplar plantations reach as far as the banks of the River Orba. The area is flat. From a floral point of view, the Reserve is home to numerous protected species.
The River Orba nature Reserve occupies part of the larger Special Area of Conservation and Special Protection Area of the River Orba of the Natura 2000 Network (identified by code IT 1180002), which extends for 506 hectares.
