The laying of the foundation stone, blessed by the Jesuit Gerolamo Durazzo, took place on 2 September 1772. The parish Church of the Assumption was consecrated on 26 July 1801 by the Bishop of Acqui Mons Giacinto Della Torre. The high altar, in polychrome marble, was designed by the architect Alessandro Antonelli best known for the design of the Mole Antonelliana in Turin and is adorned with an Ecstasy of Saint Teresa by Luca Giordano. In 1829, a first organ built by the Serassi brothers from Bergamo was installed and later restored in 1877 and in 1893. All the interiors of the Assunta are painted by the brothers Tomaso and Pietro Ivaldi from Toleto of Ponzone. Pietro, known as “the mute”, has a very short biography. He was born in Toleto of Ponzone in 1810 to Giovanni and Maria Ivaldi. Overcoming considerable difficulties, he managed to attend the courses of the Albertina Academy in Turin. He made numerous trips to Rome and Florence to study the great Renaissance masters in depth. Strong, and not overwhelmed by his disability, his works display something similar to a reassuring and confident fullness and a natural and reserved happiness. On 15 May 1807, it was decided to build the first bell tower (to the right looking at the façade); it was completed in 1808. On 28 July 1840, the decision was taken to build the second bell tower; it was built in 1852-1853.
