Palazzo Treville (courtyard) Palazzo Gozzani Treville, better known as the headquarters of the Philharmonic Academy that moved from the nearby Palazzo Pallavicino-Mossi, is one of the finest examples of an 18th century aristocratic residence. Designed in the early decades of the 18th century by the architect Giovanni Battista Scapitta, the construction was erected by Giacomo Zanetti and renovated by Ottavio Bertotti Scamozzi from Vicenza at the end of that century, in particular, the front that retains the unmistakable feature of Neo-classical architecture. The imposing façade is slightly concave, to follow the curvilinear shape of the street; the elegant refined atrium features paired columns and frescoes giving the illusion of reality; the beautiful courtyard furnished with statues, balconies, turrets and backdrops with views of the garden (there is also a meridian) is stunning. The ramps of the grand staircase lead to the main floor. On the vault, the fresco depicting the Allegory of Olympus (restored by Piero Vignoli on behalf of the Lions Club of Casale) by Pier Francesco Guala who availed of the work of the quadraturist Giovanni Antonio Bettini from Bologna. The Judgement of Paris on the atrium ceiling (by Giovanni Battista Natali from Savona) and the frescoes of Francesco Lorenzi from Verona (with the aid of Francesco Giudolini from Vicenza) in the halls toward Via Mameli are all worthy of note. The building hosts the concerts of the Philharmonic Academy (which dates back to 1827), as well as courses, conferences and social evenings of the Casalesi clubs.
