Palazzo Callori is an imposing building designed according to the architectural canons of 18th century patrician residences. The Callori family, who gave their name to the building, was one of the oldest aristocratic families of the Municipality of Asti from 1094 to 1312 who moved to this town of Monferrato. Vinealis, the ancient name of the town, originates from the important wine production in the area since the Middle Ages. In the first half of the 18th century, the Callori family had the building constructed in its current shape. In 1971, with the death of Cardinal Federico Stanislao, the Callori family died out. In 1976, the Region of Piedmont purchased the building and began attentive restoration work on it; today, the ancient cellars dug into the tuff rock are home to the Regional Wine Shop of Monferrato. Big and small exquisitely furnished halls and rooms that create a refined atmosphere of bygone days are dedicated to weddings.
