palazo Magnocavalli
History & Culture
via Mameli, 21 - 15033 Casale Monferrato (AL)
Façade: The stone portal may be attributable to Benedetto Alfieri, present in Casale in 1736; the Pelagatta family, marble workers from Viggiù, made the balcony balustrade in 1737.
Courtyards: The entrance hall, marked by columns, opens on a courtyard bordered to the west by a wing of the building dating back to the second half of the 18th century.
Interiors: The staircase, which winds around two columns, is particularly beautiful for its imposing effect, despite being built in a narrow space. The stairwell is lit by glass windows and decorated with stucco; the fresco of the vault is attributed to Bartolomeo Rusca. At the bottom of the stairs, there is a wooden statue sculpted by Gerolamo Lurasco known as “Il Grisone”, dated 1737.
