The building, with a neoclassical facade, was built in 1220 on a ground which was already church property. It was restored in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Two side chapels were built in 1523 and the current bell tower was built in 1735. More restoration work was carried out in the nineteenth century and, more recently, the external re-plastering in 1990 and the refurbishment of the barrel-vaulted roof and Marseille tile covering in 1995. The architrave hosts a seventeenth-century Madonna with Child in marble. The interior of the church is embellished by other wooden artifacts of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
