The sea museum of Tortona was created through the will, tenacity and collaboration of the group Marinai d'Italia "Lorenzo Bezzi" in 2008. It was officially inaugurated on 10 June 2010, in the presence of civilian and military authorities, departments of the Navy and the population. The museum covers a surface area of 300 square meters and exhibits 1500 finds. It is managed by volunteers of the Association "Amici del Museo del mare di Tortona".
Some of the historically significant exhibits include the German cryptographic machine ENIGMA and the memorabilia from the North Pole expedition of the Duke of the Abruzzi Luigi Amedeo di Savoia, in 1900, which belonged to our fellow citizen Admiral Doctor Pietro Achille Cavalli Molinelli.
Opening times: Saturday 9 a.m. to Noon and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
For large groups or school groups it is possible to book a visit outside normal visiting hours by phoning or writing to the e-mail address, with a few day's advance notice (see contact details).
