In 2014, UNESCO recognised the vineyard landscapes of “Langhe Roero and Monferrato” a Heritage Site, Rosignano is located precisely in the area of “Monferrato degli Infernot”. The "Monferrato degli Infernot" is component n°.6 of the Unesco site.

The Infernot is a small underground chamber dug out of the rock and is usually accessed from the cellar. The temperature and humidity in these small chambers are constant and in the past the absence of light, ventilation and noise guaranteed the ideal conditions to preserve the bottles of the best wine.

These underground chambers are one of a kind, small architectural gems that bear witness to the ancient peasant knowledge and are only present in Monferrato. They were built between the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century by local residents who dug into the bare rock with pick axes and scalpels as they wanted.

Each infernot is different from the other: with a circular, square or rectangular layout, multichamber or with corridor. The bottles were stored on continuous shelving, steps or niches; the finishes of the walls can be more or less smooth or with natural crack. Many have a table at the centre dug into the rock, freizes or embellisments.

They are made from Pietra da Cantoni, a sandstone typical of this area.
