This town restaurant wins approval and for some it is the best of the town. Nomen omen is located next to the cathedral, and the dining room is of a discreet elegance. In the hot season, it is also possible to eat outdoors. The wine list is the best of what you could ask for, while the cuisine alternates classic dishes with successful reinterpretations. We were pleased with the millefeuille of octopus with courgettes, burrata, olives and red prawns from Sicily in alternative to the trilogy of Mediterranean crudité; sea bass tartare, seared tuna salad, amberjack carpaccio. There is also the topside carpaccio cooked medium rare (starters €13). The first course (€13) options include the goat’s milk ricotta and aromatic herb gnocchetti sautéed in local rabbit sauce (no tomato) and the ravioli stuffed with guinea-fowl; then the green pea filled ravioli al plin served with melted butter and black truffle, lasagne baked au gratin with speck and purple artichokes, chitarra spaghetti (egg pasta) with redfish sauce, king prawns, cherry tomatoes and thyme. The second course (€17) options are a tender suckling pig cooked at a low temperature with seirass pudding, thyme and coffee powder and, for those who prefer seafood, turbot fillet in brown bread crust and rosemary with sautéed purple artichokes. Tasting of Piedmont cheeses with their homemade jams, before the desserts (€7) with the chocolate trilogy: cake, semifreddo and crème brulee or with the baked cream tart, fresh raspberries and sorbet with blueberries in chocolate crust.
