Tradition has it that the town was founded by Saint Eusebius, bishop of Vercelli. In January 1197, Borgofranco was built (act in the archive of the library of Vercelli). In the Middle Ages, it belonged to the Lords of Vercelli and of Casalvolone. Passed in ownership to the marquises of Monferrato in 1404, it was given to the Montiglio and to the Scozia, in 1693 it was purchased by the Fassati of Coniolo.
It maintains the parish church of the 19th century and the oratory of the confraternity of San Michele, now auditorium.
