In 2018, it joined the Municipality of Cassano Spinola.
The hamlet is a "Painted village": the mural initiative got underway on the Streets of the Historic centre of Gavazzana in 1988. The itinerary has brought new life to the old houses of the historic centre and contributed to the local colour.
Gavazzana has become part of the "Painted Villages" which are united in an Association, to make themselves known and to promote the unusual heritage they possess.

Among the places to see is the Lookout point of the Church of San Martino and the Winery of Casa Sterpi, a 17th century structure, full of charm, seat of the musical association Gavazzana-blues and venue for conferences and exhibitions.
