The municipality rises on the right bank of the river, just upstream of the confluence of the River Sesia. The village is known for the historical Palazzo Mossi, built in an Imperial style situated in Via Marconi. The project for the construction of the building was entrusted in 1812 to the architect Agostino Vitoli, originally from Spoleto. It is now home to the "Villaggio del Libro" (privileged showcase for out-of-print, used and ancient books) and the Centre of Interpretation of the Po Landscape, an innovative museum route by the Management Body of the Protected Areas of the Piedmontese Po to tell the story of the territory. The Parish Church of Sant'Ambrogio, in the historical centre, was built in the mid-15th century at the expense of the Marquises of Monferrato.
