Some artifacts of Roman origin indicate as first settlemetnts the areas close to the Castle of Lignano, which was an aristocratic Roman residence before it was transformed into a castle. In the top part of the village is the Sacchi-Nemours Castle, around which a medieval fortification arose in medieval times. The parish church of Maria Vergine Assunta, radically restored in the 17th century, is a short distance away. The municipality of Frassinello Monferrato falls within the core zone of the UNESCO site "Monferrato of the Infernots" together with other eight Municipalities of the territory.
