The first document on the church, built in the 12th century close to the castrum of Lu Monferrato, dates back to 1298. In the late 17th century mastro Mariano built the current facade of the building and, in 1724, Pelagatta and Buzzi from Viggiù sculpted the high altar, the balustrade and the holy water fonts in marble which are still present today.
