The district of Orsara Bormida passed from owner to owner, first being the property of the Marquis of Bosco, then the Malaspina, then the church of Acqui and in the 1500s it passed to a noble family from Milan. This is a small castle that developed around a square tower, perhaps pre-existing, but it still constitutes the donjon of the building, considerably tall, made of stone with brick courses and corbels and traces of plastering and probably modified in the upper part. The roof is in pavilion style and does not have any jutting stonework that however can be seen on another lower tower of the castle, with a polygonal shape, crowned with a dense series of brackets. Between the two towers is the main body of the castle, also in stone with occasional brickwork. The present building is the result of modifications and additions, not such as to distort the whole. The most recent include the conversion to a gentleman’s residence in the 18th century.
