Of the ancient castle, whose remote origins are unknown due to the loss of any document caused by looting and fires, only the crenellated tower remains, built in 1510. The current constructions date to 1600 and subsequent eras. In any case, a mighty stronghold already had to exist in 1164, when Federico Barbarossa granted the fief of Murisengo to the Marquises of Monferrato.
Note: History recalls that when he was a guest in this castle, in 1813, Silvio Pellico wrote La Francesca da Rimini.
