The airport of Novi Ligure has been in operation since the early 1920s and home to the Novi Gliding Association (former "Fulvio Padova" Association) since 1970, which operates hundreds of flights a year.
The grass runway is 1050 m long in an 18/36 direction and can handle aircraft up to 2000 kg.
The airport is situated on the border between the Po plain and the first hills of the Apennines of Genoa. The area offers the possibility of plain flights but also to try mountain flights in the Apennines.
The Association is the departure point for both short and long flights. During the high season our more expert members, including important champions of the sport, have often flown themselves hundreds of km, towards both central Italy and
France.
The flight area also offers countless possibilities of landing fields, as well as the different airfields and airports nearby, such as Acqui Terme, Alessandria, Tortona, Voghera and Francavilla Bisio.
Our Association makes a large fleet of aircraft available to its members, with a two-seater, a three-seater and a tow plane. The aircraft are accommodated in a large hangar which also has offices, meeting rooms, teaching room, phonic room, toilets and workshop equipment for maintenance of the aircraft. There is also a separate room for use as guest quarters where it is possible to socialize before and after the flight and share experiences.
The Club includes the Gliding School which boasts nationally acclaimed instructors.
